Daytime and Nighttime by Jack Hartmann introduces the concept of night and day. This interactive teaching tool will engage students in active learning participation as they choose between daytime and nighttime activities. Lessons about the sun can include information about how it affects light and darkness, as well as human and animal activity. Learning about nighttime and daytime works as a precursor to introducing students to calendars and other methods of tracking time.

In Daytime and Nighttime students learn to understand the concept of night and day and recognize the pattern of the day and night cycle. By listing out the activities that they perform in the daytime and at night, students learn that their daily activities follow the day and night cycle. The concept of daytime and nighttime is reinforced by the visual representation of day and night using the sun and moon.

The priority is to get students noticing and describing what objects in the sky look like at different times in the daytime sky and night sky.

Daytime and Nighttime by Jack Hartmann encourages students classify daytime or nighttime activities, to observe and describe what the sky looks like at different times; to identify objects in the sky and recognize changes over time; to look for objects that are common to the daytime and nighttime sky.
