I start off the video, giving you an example of the purpose of an introduction paragraph. Next, I explain the basic structure and organization for your introduction. This is a format that you can use for any essay! Then, I go over how to start your essay with a hook and I give you an example of a hook that I wrote. Next, I review how to explain the background information of your topic. Then, I review the essay question and how to transition to your thesis statement. Next, I review the full example of my introduction paragraph and I advise that you pause the video at that point to read the whole example. I wrap up the video by giving you six questions to revise and edit your introduction paragraph. If you follow my basic format to start your essay, I guarantee that you will impress your teacher!
