"Animals in Winter" is a wonderful introductory book for children to explore science. Although, it was first published in 1963, it is relevant today. The book introduces children to some of the ways animals prepare and live through the winter. Topics introduced include migration, hibernation and general winter survival for animals.

I recommend that recreational science books be in the home or classroom. children will read these books over and over and learn something new each time they read the book, or learn something new to apply to their cognition.
