We can use blocks or quick pictures to show numbers in different ways. We can group hundreds as tens, tens as hundreds, tens as ones, or ones as tens. We see how to show a number in two ways. We group a number in different ways. When we regroup a number, the total amount does not change. We solve two word problems that involve regrouping place values. This chapter prepares students for adding or subtracting with regrouping (which we will do in Chapter 4).
