With the 5th Symphony Beethoven created a cornerstone of western music. "Da-Da-Da-Dum" - hardly any other classical motif has been used in popular culture as often as the opening bars of Beethovens Fifth Symphony. Beethoven’s Symphony No.5 came to be known as the "Schicksals-Sinfonie" (Fate Symphony), and the famous five bar theme was referred to as the fate motif.
