To extend our study on breathing, let’s read the book “Breathing Makes It Better” by Christopher Willard and Wendy O’Leary. After exploring the mechanics of the breath, this book shifts our study to how breathing can help us when handling all sorts of feelings. All feelings are a part of the human experience, but taking mindful breaths when feeling uncomfortable, uneasy or distressed is a powerful way to help those feelings move through us. Help your child see their powerful breath as they breathe closely at a mirror and watch it fog up, move a feather across the floor with breath, spin a pinwheel with their breath, or deeply exhale while blowing bubbles!
