* These 12 zodiac animals are: rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog, and pig.

* A popular and traditional food served are long noodles, they symbolize good fortune and a long life.

* A typical new years dish is Yusheng. This is raw fish salad with rice or long noodles. It is eaten by many on the seventh day of the new year.

* Firecrackers are lit in hopes that they will bring good luck and fortune.
